Default Amd Sempron 140 2.7GHZ build...

Hey guys, I'm interested as well as many of you, to unlock and maybe overclock this lil cheapy cpu. I'm completely new to unlocking and overclocking so i guess some advice would be appreciated.

This is with what i came up so far:

GIGABYTE GA-MA785GT-UD3H (Supports the feature needed to unlock the cpu & EC Firmware Selection > Hybrid, Advanced Clock Calibration > Enabled + has the AMD 785G + SB710 Chipset) yeah im informed with the basics hehe...

Now the major problem is, the selection of RAM. As you may notice the motherboard supports up to 1800Mhz in O.C though state...)

I was thinking of:

OCZ OCZ3RPR18002GK 2GB (2X1GB) DDR3 PC3-14400 REAPER HPC DUAL CHANNEL KIT at 1800Mhz which means i need to OC.

Anyway, as a first what do you suggest i should do? Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

Get this kit

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-279-_-Product

Low voltage and CAS 7

You will be hard pressed to get your ram past 1600 with that Chip. I have one and it will just about do it as the IMC is only good to 1066 as its the low end of the low end chips.

To be honest if your on a budget spend the extra cash and get an Athlon X 2 II

Also the sempron is single core, though it can be unlocked as mine can to a dual core there are no guarantees.

edit* nevermind, newegg doesnt have that motherboard, I was looking at the wrong product.

You should be able to unlock it with that board no problem.
Any Gskill kit would work great, or OCZ. Basically, you just want to look for low voltage and tight timings.

In the specs on the newegg page look for lower numbers where CAS latency is listed and timings:

Cas Latency 9
Timing 9-9-9-24
Voltage 1.65V
Multi-channel Kit Dual Channel Kit
Heat Spreader Yes
Features 4GB memory kit (2 x 2GB) for use with Dual Channel DDR3 Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processors
Intel XMP (Extreme Memory Profile) Support
XMS Heat Spreader
