Default Help choosing CPU

Ok, i am getting about 350$ from my dad for Christmas. I was thinking about buying a new processor or another gig of ram.

anyway, is the 4000+ a good processor? I could get it for about 135 bucks at newegg.

Humm, i think your current one is sweet already, but if you want a new one, well, i would get a dual core. Because there isnt much point in upgrading a fast CPU if your not going to get anything new except speed... But, if you really want to, shure.. Wait, how are you getting a 4000+ of newegg? (gift certificate?) Anyways here is the X2 3800+ which i would recommend. Also, are you looking at the San Diego core or the ClawHammy for the 4000+? Between the 2, the Sandy is cheaper and faster, newer tech, runs cooler, and supports SSE3 functions... That should provide you with plenty of speed... But, if you want to OC, i would say get the 3700+ Sandy or a 148 Opty..

get an opteron 144 or 146. those things are cool as hell. also get some good ram, some like pc4400 ram or something...a high number.

and i don't know where you can get an 4000+ proc at for 135 bucks...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103529
unless you're using credit card fraud.

i'd say screw it and put that 300 bucks in something more useful....new video card, more QUALITY ram (like OCZ plat 2 gigs...) or maybe even a new motherboard or, gosh, i can think of tons more stuff than a processor because a 3500+ ain't a bad proc.

if your gskill ram isn't high quality, suggest getting some good quality TCCD or even some bh5.

or you could look into some watercooling !!

Get the RAM
Preferably 2x 1gig modules... for gaming you will do well! Then sell off the 2x512s!
