Most games the x2 would be best i would imagine. Still very few games that use quad cores, this is for gaming yes?

Go for the Athlon II X2, it should OC to close to 4ghz with a decent board and any board with the SB750 southbridge gives you a very decent chance of unlocking the 2 other cores

![]() ***EDIT*** Even if you can't unlock the other two cores, the 6MB of L3 cache is going to help you A LOT in both gaming and everyday usage. I say Phenom II.

It really depends on ur everyday usage. If u looking to multitask a lot (transcode a movie, listen to some mp3s, surf the net, and run a anti virus at the same time) the Athlon II X4 is the way to go. It can handle gaming but just don't expect PII X4 965 frames on it. If hardcore gaming is ur thing then get the PII X2 and OC the bastard to 3.8GHz but will cut into ur multitasking. Neither one is a bad processor, they just really apply to 2 different computer users. Throw that "u can unlock to a X4" **** out the window. No one offers a 100% guarantee that it will work and if it doesn't ur just left with what u paid for.
