Try clearing your CMOS if you have not already. I have had issues similar to this with a new setup or if the CMOS battery is on its last leg.

Well I don't think it's that because I am on the rig right now and both hd's are recognized as individuals...Just can't get the raid to function....

The exact same thing happened to me when I tried to set up RAID using the NVRAID controller on my A8NSLI.
I never did get it to take. I tried everything I could think of--I have set up many arrays....nothing. I got advice from Duke and still no use. I ended up using the Silicon Image controller and it worked fine. Never got NVRAID to work at all.

So to use the silicon I have to use the port near the back of the board right???

correct--not sure if the color is the same--but I think they are the black ones???
Whatever cluster of 4 you are in now go to the other cluster of 4. Use the Sil Image RAID FLoppy and see how that works for ya.--sorry about the laggy reply. I wish I did know how to make NV RAID work on the A8N...it worked fine on the DFI and BioStar Geforce and MSI K8N Neo F4 I dunno.

Yeh it works fine on my other two ASUS boards so I'm gonna check the FAQ's on their site and see if there are any solutions or bios updates that apply...Thanks CD

Just an update I got a modded driver set from a friend and they work for the asus premium, the deluxe, and the a8n32. So I'm gonna put together a how to and upload a zip file of the drivers if anyone wants them....Here I am with my new raid-0

Awesome, glad you got it fixed.
Working off the Sil controller would have been the suck. Since those ports on the back of the board. My SLI-DR Expert did the same thing with the nVidia controller. I guess I shoulda tried a BIOS update, but I probably wouldn't have had enough time to download it, considering all the random crashes I had with that board.
