Default Overclocking Guides - For Beginners

First of all I'd like to say that I do not claim to be an expert. As you can see I recently joined OCN in August. Before I joined I knew NOTHING about overclocking. Now I feel I have learned quite a bit and would like to help others learn too.

My goal is to help others understand overclocking. I have read many articles on overclocking in the past month or so, some more helpful than others. Below are links to guides/charts/discussions that I found useful in my learning. I think these give an excellent place to start for anyone wanting to overclock. I know... I know... you don't want to read tons of articles, you just want it to work ... but in all honesty, I feel these will help the most to start. If you don't understand something, write it down... site which article it's from and then ask on the forum. I'm sure somebody will be able to help further .

AMD Guides:
"Official" Overclicking guide AMD socket AM2 - This is the newest I've seen and is very good.
DeathONator's 'Ultimate Overclocking Guide' - Good AMD Guide
CWell1337's 'DDR2 RAM Dividers' - Good reference and helps explain AMD DDR2 RAM dividers
Another A64 Overclocking Guide - A throughouh guide on AMD overclocking. 6 Pages long... the link to the other pages is towards the bottom of the page.

I know this is posted in the AMD section, therefore most of you probably want to OC an AMD system. But don't let these intel guides fool you . They still have information that is relevant to AMD systems as well . I'm not just saying this... I post these here because I really believe these are helpful to anyone trying to learn how to overclock.

Intel Guides:
pauldovi's 'Intel Overclocking Redefined: Guide to Successful Overclocking with NB Straps in Mind' - Very well written, pretty easy to understand.
pauldovi's 'Memory: Dividers, Latencies, and Bandwidth Explained' - Another well written article (really just an excerpt from the previous guide).

More RAM explained:
demol1sh3d's 'Info: Ram Timings For Dummies'

I can't stress enough... you should really read all of the guides because some of them have things that others are lacking. Take your time to learn it and your overclocking experience will be fun and exciting... (not to mention addicting!).

Good luck and don't hesitate to ask! Also... if you have any suggestions for me, please give me feedback! Thanks!

Actually, this is a very good post
I don't consider it a double... I consider it a refresher course and attention to some I may have missed that need to be added

Heh, I wish I had these 3 months ago too when I was building my first AMD rig. Oh well... live and learn! My next rig should be pretty killer... I'll definitely build it with overclocking in mind.
