Default What causes freezeups?

Hi I have a MSI K7N2 Mboard, AMD2400xp CPU, 6600gt card, two 512mb memory in dual mode, 420 watt power. I can play doom3, but on older games like command and conquer generals and Shrek2(my kid) the pc will freeze? I run prime 95 on al three tests each for 10 hours and no errors! I run memtest ror 10 hours and no errors! The pc also freezes sometimes when I am just on say Desktop. My cpu is oc to 2085 (fsb 137 and dynamic on private 1%), card is on 550/1050 and my temps are good. What causes freezeups, is there an article that I can read about? Please help!!

Since you dont seem to have a stability or memory problem, there are a couple of other things that could cause freezes. You may have problems running some of the older games especially if you have a newer system since they were optimized for the older hardware. Here's a couple things you can try.

1 - check for visues and spyware
2 - check your hard drives by running chkdsk
3 - make sure you have updated drivers for your vid card and sound card
4 - update your operating system by applying vendor updates
5 - backup your data and reformat/reload the os

intermitten freezes... consider the PS since it's related to everything. Check the rail ratings and see how much they vary from the norm.
