Default Installing a HD in AMD..

Guys, i was just wondering, if i got a new pc but i kept the HD, how would i be able to reformat it? (Switching from intel to amd, nvidia to ati.) And is it difficult to install a hd into a fully loaded case? Thanks.

(I had alot of trouble yesterday when i think i broke my vid card while using a vacume and sucking up all the dust in the gpu fan.. figuring out how to reset CMOS was hard.. so take this as a guide as "Easy" and "Hard")

alright if you have the windows xp cd you set your bios to boot from cd. then once your in the cd menu(blue screen with text) you select new install there are options on which partition you want to use. you can use d to delete partitions and c to create them and once your done making your partitions you chose which one you want to install windows on

Here is a small guide.

In BIOS select CD drive as 1st boot in the sequence
Then restart your computer with the Windows CD
When your computer says "Press any key" to load from CD, press a key
Wait for windows CD to load and when you see the menu press Enter
Then Agree to the terms (F8)
Now You should see a partition screen, press the key that deletes that partition
Now when you get back to that screen, select unpartitioned space and create new
Format that partition with NTFS quick
Then it should preloads windows files to the comp (still in 'DOS' mode)
DO NOT BOOT FROM CD, boot normally
Now Windows Setup should run

u could use a usb key, burn cd's, or anything like that, i prefer burning cds (b/c i dont have a dvd burner) and cds hold a lot of stuff, they are also fast to write.

i think bringing ur pc to a friends house is pretty dumb.

i just got a great idea.

if u have a gmail acct. u coud email the files u want to urself. if u want a gmail acct i have invites and can send u one.

its 2 gigs per acct.

pm me if u want to do that.

i g2g for a while, so i'll be back later, but yeah, and i'll write an faq on formatting later
