Default State of shock - I can overclock

In the words of Victor Meldrew - "I don't belieeeve it!"

For the first time since I built this computer its actually overclocked...up until this morning it wouldn't even run over 200x4

Now I'm sat happy as a daisy at 220x11 and still going...all I did was watch a grot film, then go into BIOS and disabled SATA 1+2 in a fit of rage...then bingo, overclock

You should really disable any devices or services in bios that you're not using. Gives you a faster boot and eliminates variables that could cause probs during your oc.

Yeah well, not quite. Over 225FSB I get disk read errors. Now it can run PI and fold at 225, but it can't play CS:S for very long. So, its still screwy. But its improved

Sounds like youre unstable. Try some vcore or timings tweaking.

Are you using a SATA HDD? If so, then you could be using a unlocked SATA port.

I'm using port4, which is supposed to be locked.

I know about voltages and timings, they are not the problem. This issue has been going on for a long time, I have a faulty HDD or mobo. I already know this, I just was suprised today to see that I can do more than I've been able to do before

Right, was only trying to point out that those might help you get stable from the sound of your problems. I'm sure you've ran chkdsk. Have you checked to see if your motherboard manufacturer has a diagnostic utility? ALso, check to see if there's one for your HD.

What is the 12+ v rating?
You should have high 20+v rating!
