Default Core temps too high?

My core is at 1.6v now at 38C and when I up it to 1.7v the temp rises to 48C. Is this bad? What would be an ideal core temp. I feel this is suppressing my oc, so would it be safe?

I'm not sure about the AMD chips but I don't think you want to take those over 1.6. Where in san diego are you from?

Im in Paradise Hills. I have it at 1.6v at 48C. I dont think its that bad because theres a fan over the core (not a heatsynch). I was trying out an oc of 2.5 with prime95 and i keep getting errors.

i'm from Mira Mesa about 30 minutes from you, but I work up in LA county.

so are you saying you have no hs on your cpu at all? i'm not sure what the safe temps are for the AMDs but I try not to let mine get over 55. are the temps you are quoting at idle or load? how much are you oc'd?

safe temp for my FX55 is 72C, but i agree that you dont want to be pushing it too high.

If you really need the extra stability with the voltage, then do it but make sure you have a temperature reading online ALL the time to make sure that its not fluctuating. If it starts going up fast then switch it off

50*C is the max recommended temp for your chip. Lower is always better and results in a more overclockable/stable system. BTW, you're also pushing the limite on vcore - 1.650 is the absolute max unless you got some good cooling and aare willing to take risks.
