Default Faster Graphics card then Processor

As you can see I have a Geforce 6800 GT Oc and an athlon 3500 processor. I'm making an educated guess that my Geforce is not putting out its full potential because my processor can't keep up with it right?

not sure about that combo. But a GPU is always faster than a CPU.

The 3500+ has no problem keeping up with it. Bottlenecking for you CPU isn't going to be happening until the 8800GTS range.

... the numbers aren't what you think they are. they are, first off, in no way related. they are just model numbers..... thats like saying "is hunts tomato paste better than always save cause the upc is a bigger number?" There is a lot more to comparing parts than just that.

I was in no way implying that the larger the number had anything to do with it. I'm not completely clueless... after all I'm going to be a computer engineer soon. Anyway, I figured it did because the processor was usually maxed out during games. Other then that what is the best way to get more juice out of my system. Would it be overclocking the ram and processor?

GPU and then CPU are going to help the most. Also having 2GB of RAM will help. Raising the RAM speed will give you more bandwidth, but you probably won't use it.

That CPU can keep up just fine with the video card you have. To get some extra performance out of that system you can overclock you cpu/ram/video as long as you have proper cooling and hardware.

I overclocked my Graphics card and even a 5Mhz boost and the system would hang. I restarted my computer and when windows loaded the screen filled with lines and colors. I had to do a system restore to get rid of it. I know my graphics card is already overclocked by the manufacturer, but is there another way to overclock it. By the way I used Nvidias tools to do this.

no, the geforce is at full, but you could use 2gb ram instead of 1gb, although i think you use ddr, which is more expensive...

Load temp/heat and voltages may hold your GPU OC back in most cases.
