I'd still look at the newer tech of the 790 chip set AM2+ motherboards. Higher HT and better voltage layout.

Phenom II should be called Ph II, not a P II because it isn't an old Intel

Thanks again guys, and like always I have some more questions

I've heard that you can actually put a phenom into a regular AM2 motherboard. If this is the case, will there be new phenoms coming out that won't work in the normal AM2 slots? However The Duke is saying get an AM2+ motherboard not just for the CPU upgrade potential but also for higher performance NOW. Is that worth the extra cost?

Also, I'm confused about the memory. 4 GB (2x2GB) can only be used by a 64 bit operating system, namely Vista 64-bit. Is the because 32 bit OSes can't use 2GB modules, or that they can't use as much as 4GB total?

Last thing (for now)...
Does the HD3870 512MB have better performance/price than one of the H 2900 cards?

Yeah the 3870 owns the 2900 dude. Plus youl save alot of money buying a big psu. The 3870 doesnt need as much power as the 2900.

Many AM2 MB support the Phenom...
http://www.overclock.net/amd-motherb...herboards.html

Myself and another member are going to get the Biostar TA770 AM2+ and we'll see how well the 770 chip set OC. Till then I can't comment on mid range AM2+ MBs.
