Default Computer wont start, help!

Hi!

So i bought some new computer parts for my brother. An Amd 5200, Asus motherboard and some corsair 2Gb memory put together with his old parts.

The problem is the computer wont start. The green light on the motherboard is on and when i press the on button only the fan to the PSU goes on, nothing else.

I get no sounds nothing, and i have checked that the case speaker is plugged in. I am using his old harddrive with windows installed could that be it or not?

Thanks in advance!

First startups are hell. Thanks for the answers. I double checked the pins, and Im pretty sure they´re right. I mean you cant really force them in right ?

I also took out my RAM and I heard no Beeps so my RAM is okay right ?

I´ll try taking out the CPU aswell now.

Any other tips ?

Ok, first un-plug all connections and re plug them back in making sure you get a firm seat. Golden rule, never panic....and that includes video card. try that and let us know.

okay.. so I took out the CPU and turned the computer back on again. I got no beep (maybe its the pins that dont work since the Restart button doesnt work as well) but my Chassi fans started working and probably my harddrive i think.

Can we learn anything from this?

Dr Fil, I'd suggest taking everything out of the case and placing it on a non-static surface. You may have a grounding issue with a standoff. Make sure all the standoffs in the case are properly screwed in and snug. Try the motherboard out of the case and see if you can get it to POST (power on self test).

Let us know

Good luck

If it is not any connections then i would say its the mobo.

Because if you took the ram out and it did not scream at you, then IMPE ( in my personal experience) thats a mobo issue
