Default Help !! Can't find Systool 1.0 728

Hello,
Thanks for posting this thread about this sux a$$ mobo that I have the A8M2N-LA, I have been looking everywhere to find something, I have used ntune, but being unable to underclock the ram has kept me "rebooting" neway, I can't seem to find that version of Systool anywhere on the net at all, when I tried to use the others I get the error message that it had to close, they install fine but they just won't run, I think that I just need that version 728 of systool or I am doing something wrong. Need help here...I was just curious though and this might be a thought...I was wondering why it wouldn't be possbile to actually swap the bios with the M2N-MX board that asus has that looks exactly like this one? Any feed back would be the "coolest" please email me and let me know your thoughts at andemon26@gmail.com, help me overclock this thing !!

Andemon26, I'm not to sure if that will work. One significant difference between the two motherboards is the chipset. The proprietary A8M2N-LA uses the nForce 6150 LE chipset where as the M2N-MX uses the 6100 chipset. Not entirely sure if swapping the BIOS chip will work not to mention the M2N-MX supports up to DDR2 800 and the A8M2N-LA only supports up to DDR2 667. I don't advice swapping the BIOS chip because it may damage the board but then again I am not certain.

I searched around for a modded BIOS but couldn't come up with anything.

Hope that helps

Default Totally understand

I do know that it's the 6150 LE chipset that I am looking for thanks for replying, I was just putting up a thought, I contacted ASUS and was told that it is actually possible to get the bios redone at bestbuy, radioshack or compusa with 3rd party software and if at all possible putting in a different bios chip, the tech wasn't so clear, but what I don't get is why it isn't possible to do so by running the flash utility? If I was told that it can be done by some outside vendor or what not then it could possible be done free if you know what you're doing. I don't know, I don't think that it is all that worth it for this p.o.s. I know that the next time I get the money, hopefully soon, I am just going to get a mobo from somewhere outside of an oem, I had an Acer once and the bios allowed me to make changes to the settings. I still have that cpu and have some questions...would you mind taking a stab at them? Thanks again...oh and why doesn't systool seem to work?

Andemon, it's possible that "systool" isn't compatible or does not recognize your chipset. That's a possibility. It may explain for the random crashes/restarts of the application. Have you tried out "clockgen"? In my opinion software overclocking is a bit risky. It can lead to data corruption so be careful. Please test your memory with memtest after you've made changes. The last thing you need is your OS crashing/BSOD'ing on you. Make sure to run tests 5 and 8 each for at leat 20 minutes.
I'd also advice making small changes incrementally to your reference clock and then performing proper testing with applications such as Orthos/OCCT.

If you haven't already, check out this AM2 overclocking guide. The changes are mostly done within the BIOS but at least you'll get an idea of the process: http://www.overclock.net/amd-general...ocket-am2.html

Good luck

Here's a link to build 728 for those struggling to find it:
http://www.roclockers.net/overclocki...build-728.html

Worked fine for me where as the latest build failed to start every time.
