Default HP-Compaq users with mobo Asus A8M2N-LA

OK this one is for all the owners of HP/Compaq systems with this asus
A8M2N-LA (HP/compaq codename NAOS) motherboard who are sick to
death with a stock clocked chip because HP decided to lock out the
good features in the bios.

Warning: Overclocking may reduce performance of or destroy
your CPU. This guide uses no bios settings and the worst case
usually resulted in a windows crash.. BUT the big risks still exist.
In other words this is an AT YOUR OWN RISK thread use it only if
you are comfortable with possibly frying your cpu for a 25-30%
performance boost.

Required:
1> HP/Compaq PC With A8M2N-LA NAOS motherboard
2> SysTool 1.0 728
3> nTune 5.05.38
4> a little free time.

Ok here goes,

First load up systool and under AM2 Memory timings change MEMCLK
to 200MHz, we don't want the memory unstable because of the o/c.
click the write button to underclock yur DDR2! don't worry guys it'll
end up being like a 33MHz speeed drop but 4GB/sec performance boost
by my testing and that's just on the ram side. If you are going for more
speed on your cpu via the trick below and have a sempron 3400+ change
the voltage under AMD Cool-N-Quiet to 1.425 as well.

Second load up nTune and choose Adjust motherboard settings.
Change the HT multiplier to 3 (will keep this speed not overclocked
like the memory for possible stability issues.) then Slide the
Reference Clock (HTT) slider up to 250MHz. and click Apply.
On my Board the slider only goes to 250 without a little trickery
the trickery is saving an ntune profile and opening it in note/wordpad.
The default location for the saved profiles is:
C:\Documents and Settings\XxX\Local Settings\Application Data\NVIDIA Corporation\nTune\Profiles
Edit the line "FSBMHZ=XXX" where XXX is the fsb you set change the XXX to 256
and load it into ntune it should pop an error click ok on this. Now
close ntune and reload it.. now your new fsb should be 256 and
at a multiplier of 9.0, which is what a sempy 3400+ only runs, your
new cpu speed would be 2306MHz with a HT multi of 3x @ 768MHz.
2306 is the highest stable speed I can aquire on this board it will
clock to 2.4GHz with an fsb of 267 but it was unstable.

BEFORE you reboot/shutdown remember to slide that Reference clock
back to that nice 200MHz side where hp/compaq put it and apply it.
This will Prevent possible system lockup before post on the next boot.
Which on my computer only forced a power off then power on to fix
but it's a minor annoyance this quick step prevents you from having
to endure.

Heat is the biggest enemy to the overclocker and it's no different with
this board/cpu. On my system with the stock ASUS fan that came with
runs around 21-25c under 100% load for 5 hour periods. So unless your
system has cooling issues be it from more heat producing hardware or
just a lower quality fan/heatsink combination you should have no issues
with heat with this overclock but that doesn't mean you won't so use
some temp monitoring software to keep an eye on it at least for a few
days to make sure everything is in working order.

OK provided you did the above things.. in that order you should now have
a stable 3400+ @ 2.25GHz or 2.3GHz on a compaq/hp system.

Sounds like bit of a hassle but may come in handy for some.
Good find
Too bad this won't work with my ASUS A7V8X-LA from a Compaq SR1230NX sigh......

Marvin, welcome to Overclock.net

Did you follow the above instructions from al3x3y on setting up the applications? One thing to note about software overclocking is that it can be dangerous. You can easily corrupt your operating system so be careful.

Good luck

Thank you for the translat site!

Then. I went to download systool and does not go. I have followed everything. But it goes! Thank you for answers!

A forgot, I have a pre-assembled factory HP, AMD athlon 4200 +, Asus motherboard a8m2n, 3 gb of ram, video card nvidia 7500 the .... hello hello!

Sorry for a moment ..... using Ntune, it was overclockato! Now place your CPU-z: Core Speed 2433.9 Mhz! Multiplier: x 5.0. Bus Speed: 221.3. HT link: 1106.4 Mhz.
You can not raise much, because otherwise goes into crack pc!
Using nTune until the spengo, is fine .... but after? There is no "tool" that makes the memory remain so? Thanks!

I'm afraid not.overclocking a brand pc is really hard and you don't get to much out of it .
