Using Nuendo 3 and Vst's, what factors will increase performance the most? I've been leaning toward cranking the FSB to 2600Mhz and lowering the multiplier to 10.

with that setup, and since audio processing and converting is mostly a cpu-memory item, I would say overclocking the cpu and ram, and trying to keep the ram overclocked but with low timings, would be the best way to go.
Just make sure to stability test occasionally.

Thats what I thought. Since, I can't crank the CPU speed too much without error, I'll work on maximizing the FSB.

Are you running samplers, synths, or FX? If cash allows, the Waves plug-ins offer a really nice performance-to-cpu ratio... not to mention PHENOMinal sound (sorry, i had to )

if you have the BE model phenom, you shouldnt have to play too much with the reference clock (fsb) except for fine tuning and/or overclocking ram. BE chips are designed with unlocked multipliers to make OCing easier. To oc 400mhz just raise your multi by 2 and that should OC each core by 400mhz (1.6ghz total cpu speed increase)

I haven't installed my production software yet, I'm trying to get this thing tuned first. But I would like to be able to run all my processing on top of my midi, which takes alot of cpu and memory. I know the mutiplier is an easy way to get the speed up, but I'm more looking to speed up the memory. It seems the best way to do that is the fsb according to the Ultimate guide.
