No thats cool mate, cheers for looking into it, but i only really use this for gaming and a bit of photoshop, and ive heard a lot of people have gone back from quads to dual cores for gaming because of the lack of support. If anyone can recommend anything, it would be a great help.

a lot of people say that a really good dual core should be good enough for most games right now. with that being said, the 6400+ has done really well in most gaming benchmarks. the 6000 is also pretty decent

Cheers for that mate, i spose if i did get a dual core 6000+ then it would tide me over until smaller phenoms come out with higher clock speeds... when games that actually use all 4 cores hopefully.

A stock x2 5200 will only just score 10k in 3dmark 06 at 1280x1024. You say you ran with your old 4200 and got more? you probably ran 3dmark05 all the tests are pretty similar.. A stock x2 4200 will limit 3dm06 score to around 8k..
Anyway man ignore what 3dmark says lol, i bet you see a huge difference in games

Yea i realised a while back that was in 05 haha, sorry for the confusion, does anyone know if these fx chips are going to boost performance much?
__________________Yes, the games seem smoother, but i see a lot of people with similar systems saying that they can get 60+ fps constant on cod4 etc. So im trying to get a system together while i have some cash, and future proof for atleast a year.

Oh sorry man its was my fault for not reading the whole thread. FX chips were good back in the day lol. But i think if you have your x2 at 3ghz then its pointless buying any other x2 or FX. I think you should try and save to get a phenom 9850 BE they usually overclock to 3ghz.

cheers, the only problem is that the 9850 isnt officially supported, its listed as n/a on the gigabyte site, but others have said they can run it on there rev 1 versions of my mobo (i have rev1)

The framerates fine for me now, i did that enable dual video cards thing and the stutter went away. Ive been looking at some intel processors, although that would mean id have to get a new mobo aswell -_- But it just all looks too expensive on the intel side...
