Default Im not totally sure this is right...

Hi, just built this system, installed all my usual crap, and decided to run 3dmark06 to see how much of a boost i got off my old system... suprisingly, ive lost about 700 points off my old score, my current score is now around 9800...

my specs are below, im not sure what it could be.

My old system is like a AMD x2 4200+, 8800gts (g80) 312mb, and 2 gig of crap ram... urgh.

Start Overclocking, also do you maybe have more processes, services, or apps runnign in the background now versus your old bench? try benching it in Safe mode... it cuts down to minimum processes/services...

See if you can push the 5200+ around 3.0G, you should see better score.

Ok, i meant to actually say ive lost 2000+ points plus, i was thinking of the wrong thing, so something is obviously wrong... and my score has just decreased when i pushed the processor to around 2.9ghz, hmmm, anyone got any ideas?

or is it because im running an older verion of 3dmark06?

You will need some better cooling to get a good OC out of that CPU. Usually around the 28-2900MHz range the stock cooler can't keep the temps below the low 50c range at full load.

Hi, at the minute the temps havent gone over 45 at full load? is that alright, or would you still recommend a new cooler, its still clocked at 2.9. thanks duke

edit: just got the newer version of 06, the points have gone up by 1000 to 10048, but im not sure if this is still pretty low for my system?

Try different video drivers. Some are better than others and it depends on your system.
