Well, i've been lazy and been using the stupid AIbooster from asus to OC
I had the vcore set to about 1.4125V i think (it's all stocl now) but apparently that doesnt raise it enough. I'll change it in bios and keep a better eye on CPU-Z.
I'll post the VDIMM when I get home, at a work computer now.
Also i'll run some more memtest, possibly RMA my gskill a pair at a time, lifetime warranty, right?

Edit for more info:
The crashes usually occur when I have WoW, Ventrilo, and Pandora running in Firefox.
Also i have been getting WoW crashes that seem to be memory related i.e. Could not reference 0000XX-whatever memory patterns.
Clearing the CMOS did seem to quicken boot times and general loading. I'll keep this updated on the situation more once i replicate the situation (which is every night)

J_syk, that might explain a few problems. Software overclocking in my opinion isn't the wisest choice of selection when it comes to OC'ing. I'd advice making all of your changes though the BIOS. The BIOS offers quite a bit more functionality in terms of settings/options. Does AIBooster allow you to put the memory on a divider? I have a feeling your memory was slightly overclocked which may be causing these issues.

Verify that everything is stable at stock clocks first before going any further.

Good luck

That's alot of different sound programs all running at once... And you're using onboard sound right? Do you have an old sound card kicking around somewhere to replace it with? That onboard controller may be dying...

Also I don't know if it matters, but if you have WoW set to use hardware for your sound mixing and channels and then programs using a software mixer etc, there might be a conflict? Try setting WoW to use the software mixer and see if that stops it. I know my old SBLive5.1 would act up and crash WoW when I set it to use hardware .. then again.. it was on it's last leg so from my experience.. your onboard sound may be on it's way out.

You know, I didn't correlate this directly, but i was somewhat considering getting a card anyway. If you'd like to recommend something, I made a post here.
WoW sound is disabled, although who knows if that guarantees it's not still processing it, just muted possibly.

Haven't experienced any crashes today, after clearing the CMOS and resetting stock OC. I did increase the Vcore in the bios to 1.4 but it's still reading a little low in cpu-z at 1.312. Should i try to get this higher still?

I'm sure someone else can tell you exactly where it is, but there is a setting to not have it auto-reset.

edit: I searched for it
1. Go to Start -> Control Panel -> System
2. Go to Advanced
3. Under the Startup and Recovery section, click Settings...
4. Under System Failure un-check "Automatically restart"

this is for XP anyway, might be the same for vista

The autorestart I tend to keep on just for convenience. You can see why you got the BSOD in your admin event logger (accessible through the control panel) if you turn on the small memory dump option in that same settings page j_syk mentioned. You'll need a program to decode the memory dumps though and you can get it at microsoft.com's download section. Look for "Debugger for Windows x86". It's a little complicated for the average user but that how we can tell where the error is coming from by the STOP code. If it starts with x0000009c .. yeah, you're buying some new hardware.

J_syk, that is good news. Can you try a few other applications such as Coretemp and Everest to see if the Vcore is fluctuating also? Have you verified that the changes you made to the Vcore were in fact saved in the BIOS?

Good luck
