Sunrex, possibly yes. It really depends on the quality of the fan bearings ect. The lubrication may dry out faster. Most wear on a fan usually occurs at start up and stop.

NB at 84C while CSS is minimized.
The poor performance issues in CSS could be related to the OS. Remember this isn't a clean install...just a thought. Your processor temps look great though! Do you have any fans aimed at your chipset? Isn't 84C lower then your previous 100C temp that was showing up?

I hope the cold boot issues don't come back to haunt you.

Good luck

No. 84C was average when the CPU and GC wasn't under any strain. Upon playing CSS for a minute or so it shot up to 94C easy... I'm thinking about just installing XP x64. But I'm not going to touch anything until I know for sure the cold boot issue is gone.

Edit: 101 post!. This thread is getting big.

No need for a cold boot....

...yeah, same thing with CSS now as well.

Well. Time to try putting a fan over the NB now somehow to see if that's the problem. I doubt it is. It actually could be the ram...

Link me to some good ram - 4GB - that can used on this mobo. I would prefer something I could use with this 4GB ram just in case it turns out its not the case.

The fan connector wont fit in the NB_FAN.... granted, it is a CPU fan but its so old and small that it could fit on my South Bridge without being any bigger.

Sunrex, for testing purposes please try running a lower divider so that your memory frequency is out of the picture. Make sure you're also testing for stability. Have you tried testing at stock clocks? Is this a clean installation of Vista 64?

Check the fan connectors. Are they 2-pin or 3-pin? The connectors can be modified/replaced.

This is typical for the Brisbane core. The odd temperature readings are usually incorrect. I believe it has somethings to do with the chipset having difficulties reading the die sensor. In some cases a BIOS update resolves the problem.

Good luck

This is the same install I had before sending out the board.

I forgot to turn off the PC last night. I'm going to try a cold boot in around a hour... I don't want to miss the final attempt from UPS today.

After a hour cold boot, no issues. Hoping it stays this way.

I don't appear to be having any issues now. Second cold boot did give me an option for a normal windows or safe mode, but thats because I shut it down by pressing the power button. I then did a quick power off and on, no issues.

I'll post again if I get any more issues, if not then the issue was a faulty board.
