Intel Overclocker

I have two uncles that always have been AMD worshipers.
__________________One has the common belief that they "preform better in games" while the other just had good experinces with them. Good experinces probably would make one continue to use AMD while one Intel chip frying will forever discourage another intel buy. however, I have another uncle that is an hardcore intel fan.. he thinks amd just sucks, sucks, sucks. some are just strongly biased like that. Myself I've always been with intel because I grew up with intel with the Intel-hugging uncle always giving me the advice, so up to now I'm kinda "glued" to intel. and from reading, apparently AMD overclocked not as good as Intel before Phenom II.. however, with AMD there are some nice budget chips out there that have simular preformance while being cheaper than intel. tri core can be had as low as $89 while giving nice multitasking power. with intel, cheapest mutli-tasking power as of today is Q8200, which is a bit more than 2x the cost of the $89 tricore. and of course, AMD has partically won me over by the release of Phenom II. Nice overclocker and doesn't require ripoff DDR3!

Same reason why people buy other items, such as ipods, macs, cars. Not everything gives the best performance.

If only Phenom 2 could match in terms of 24/7 overclock and performance. Turn off HT on an i7 and it gets to past 4 ghz, cake, 4.0 at 1.3v passing 8 hrs is nice to say the least, and load temps drop by nearly 15c, along with voltage requirements for each speed.

I'm an Intel man currently myself (absolutely no loyalty though). Recently my buddy asked me to piece a build together for him. I asked if he wanted to go Intel or AMD, I was delighted when he said that he wanted to go with an AMD platform (he's been an AMD man for a while, but again no real loyalty), I could have easily swayed him, but his budget and expectations were spot on. We managed to put together a build yesterday with a Phenom II, HD4830, and 780G chipset for <$600.
AMD certainly has its place, with the Phenom II a slighter underdog than the original Phenom, I believe its condition improving. FWIW. Another friend of mine made the same request of me a couple months ago; he ended up with a Q6600.

Well the uncle, the funny thing is, he's in love with the Intel Celeron. He refuses to touch a core 2 duo, let along a pentium-dual. He has a strong love for celeron. =s I'm willing to go AMD to try something new anyday, just sucks to be a 15 year old working at mcdonalds.. so I can't buy new 4870s and Q9550s like others all the time to play with. You won't know what human stupidity is until you live around my area among the other teenagers here, trust me.

this is OCN i mean really are you going to over clock a laptop? i was going to go with 5000 BE which is a 50 dollar upgrade for me then overclock it since my 4600 can do everything i need but i havent had a unlocked multiplier yet so i want to try it... but changing over to 5000BE will give my PC another 3 years of compatibility... putting my pc to 7 years of life span... funny thing is that in probably a few months after getting a 5000BE i can get a 790GX board and still use my 5000BE o.O which is probably $70~80 once am3 comes out then a few years from that i can get 920BE whoa still compatible OMG!!! its only an example :P but i think you guys get what i mean :P

I think at least part of the reason some people are going for Intel now a days is for the e-peen factor. Having that magical "4GHZ" in your sig system does make you feel good. And I know I would if I had the money/justification to do so. It's only natural for men to do such things
