|
system wont boot to bios?
ok i was doing some overclocking and had to reboot due to system instability. but my computer wont boot to bios. the computer turns on but just get a black screen. any suggestions?

Somewhere on the mobo (probably near the battery) i'd expect to find a little jumper that says something like "CMOS" or somethin'.
__________________Just move the jumper over to the pins next to it (there'll be three and the jumper fits on two...) and that'll do it. If it still doesn't wana boot then you're going to have to pull everything out of the mobo and put it back together peice by peice.

so do i reboot with the jumper on the other pins? and do i leave it alone from that point on ie...move the jumper over and leave it there. or move it back to the origanal spot after a reboot. sorry for all the questions im still very new to this and thank you for your help so far

You can do either. I usually move it back n fourth because i'm ocd like that. S'all good.

To truly clear the CMOS you would take the battery out, move the jumper over, wait a minute, move the jumper back, put the battery back in, then reboot.

I usually just remove the cmos battery for about 20 seconds so I don't have to fool with the jumper but either way you need to reset your bios.

Using the jumper to clear the CMOS is the same as taking the battery out. To be sure you need to turn off the power supply. Any power in the system could possibly keep the settings that you had.
When you change the jumper to the other 2 pins leave it on there for a few second, say 10 or so. After that change it back to the original. If you leave it on the opposite 2 it will clear your settings everytime you turn off your computer. But clearing the CMOS should bring your video back. My suggestions after you are able to get back in are to either, lower your bus speed, or up your cpu voltage. Depending on what you are currently at. My old motherboard would kill the video if i tried to set it to 1.4 volts. It was a crappy ECS. Anyway, good Luck. Let us know how everything goes
