Default So this is what I'm thinking, help me out!

ASUS MB

Processor

So my sig. rig is getting old. I need to start upgrading a piece at a time. I was thinking this MB and CPU combo first. Then when and if Windows 7 comes out well, upgrade to that as well. I can use my current RAM on the new MB and my 2, 8800GT. While I can currently play the new games well the drivers are becoming increasing less useful to my setup and causing more problems than solutions. Let me know what ya'll think. This board also can let me hook directly to newer TV's and use my computer as a media server since I pay 8.99 a month to stream netflix. The onboard sound on this board is also better than my current car which seems to be having problems itself. I think it was the **** out of the compressed air can that sprayed out all over it that started the problems. I'm not worried about DDR3 at all because it wont go main stream for at least another year. My DDR2 1066 works just fine. This board is also AM3 Ready so If I want to upgrade my processor in the future. I know a newer chipset doesn't always mean better but having 2 8800GT doesn't seem to make a difference much over having one on this current setup. I also want something that will be able to handle 2 GTX 295 in SLI if I go down that path. Ill add a PSU if I go down that path. Anyways let me know what you think because currently those 2 items are darn near 500 dollars. I hear a lot of people are having problems with these MB but I think I might be fine with it. If you have a better suggestion I'm looking for a MB that is better than my current one, can do SLI with dual PCIE 2.0 at 16x. Must be AM2+ Compatible AM3 not necessary. ATX form factor, no micro here please. Good number of SATA ports seeing how I only use SATA.

That seems like a good choice but if you want to save some money this board also looks like a good one.

The processor you picked of course is the best choice for the AMD platform .

Whats the overclocking like on the Foxconn? Some people were saying that its a bare bones BIOS not really usable to get high stable overclocks.

That board can't SLI

I think the Crossfire II board is the best AMD SLI board

Omg that is so wrong. That cpu doesn't oc that good. It's better than most since it's a BE with unlocked multiplier, yes, but even tho it's AMD's high-end AM2+ cpu, it's not the best they released. Might wanna check out reviews about the cpu I linked below

@OP : If you're a gamer or an overclocker, you'll want to go with this cpu:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103649 which can fit on the Crosshair II til ur ready to upgrade to DDR3 and change mobo. All in all this cpu overclocks better than the 940, and it's 60 bucks cheaper...

After very little research at all most reports said that the tri core, not only is not a quad, but since it only has 3 cores using 98 watts its going to run cooler stock. But, it tops out around 3.3 - 3.4Ghz because you have to increase the voltage too much. I would rather stick with the 940 because its already proven that it can handle 4Ghz on a high CFM air setup. Not to mention that it holds the 3dmark06 record right now. While most programs these days are set up to run off of 2 cores within the next year to year and a half I for see them being written for the quad core setup. Since they are only increasing the amount of cores this is all they can do to get far better performance out of these chips. Thank you for you suggestion though I didn't know they released any AM3 CPUs yet.

They just added an Phenom 810 I like the specs on it but I want one that is BE and stock at 3Ghz I think I might just wait a bit longer to see what happens with their new arrivals.
