I have been using Vista Ultimate 64bit and haven't had any issues with BSOD's with my 8800gts 512mb sli setup or when i upgraded to my gtx260's sli'd.

I don't mean to be rude, but what is wrong with TigerDirect? I've bought a lot from them, and Newegg. TigerDirect has faster shipping, Newegg has more selection.

If you are running 4gig RAM or more go with Vista Home Premium 64bit. It supports DX10 and will allow you to use all of your RAM.

Windows 7 is still in beta, if you want to make that your primary OS right now be prepared to run into bugs and such since it isn't out on general release.

XP is a good OS but is aging. Lots of people still use it however i would personally go with Vista if doing a new build right now.

my suggestion for PSU is this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139005 it has a 52A on a single rail 75 dollars after MIR... also take a look at this mobo http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128381 since you will not be using a onboard gpu :P and for cpu try to get 720BE since 710 unlock cores are only for advertisement gimmicks :P show the world everyone will get one :P good luck... oh btw tiger direct prices are ridiculous i only buy from tiger if its an emergency and needed to pick it up from their store...

Many members dont like tiger direct for their use of luring people in with great deals and then only having it limited to a certain amount of users (black friday debacle comes to mind) Along with using tactics that can be construed as bait and switch....

I have ordered a vid card from them before and got it with no issues and fast.

Don't get a laptop hard drive, you can get much more for your money with a 3.5" hard drive such as this one.

All came down to $596 ~ $600
Go with the PII 720BE instead if budget allows. The unlocked multi will make oc'ing a lot easier. As for OS, if you already have XP just stick with XP. If not, get Vista Home Premium 64.
