Default Recommended PC Specs For First Gaming Build?

Can someone give me the recommended specs for a up to date gaming PC, I have an idea on a new build but correct me if I have something wrong or not needed for a advanced gaming PC, like a computer that can play all the games that just came out, here's the specs:
(CANCELLD)
PSU - Ultra LSP750 750-Watt Power Supply
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...Sku=ULT-LSP750

Ram - Corsair Dual Channel TWINX
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...9&sku=C13-6082

Graphics Card - XFX GeForce 9800 GTX
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...wyKbywgfCjCmH4

CPU - MD Phenom 9500 Processor
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...u=CP1-AM2-9500

Motherboard - XFX nForce 750a SLI
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...?EdpNo=3930721

I'm getting these two together in a combo for $230 ($30 dollar rebate, so really I'll be paying 200 for them both)

Hard Drive - Western Digital Caviar SE16 400GB Hard Drive
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...?EdpNo=3438364

Case - NZXT Apollo Black ATX Mid-Tower
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...&Sku=A406-1069

OS - I need help on choosing my OS, not sure what to get for best performance

CPU Cooling - Thermaltake TR2-R1
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...&sku=T925-1168

Graphics Card Cooler - Not sure what to for a Graphics card cooler need help with this too

That's about $700 USD

Ok, so now i have to go intel for a Quad core CPU?
That's gonna kinda suck, I have bad history with intel, and secondly I guess I have to make a account on newegg and find all the parts there, and find another board that supports Intel
XD

Second that. Keep the mobo if you like it, but get a Phenom II instead, like the 710 (or 720BE if you can afford it atm), it's cheap and more than fine for games.
Edit: he specified Phenom I btw.

Hmm, that phenom II 710 looks nice, I might go with that instead (Newegg)
But I want to keep my mobo

Don't get the Phenom 9500, it's the B2 stepping with the TLB bug. Get the Phenom 9950 instead. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103291 $169

The Phenom II 7xx series are only tri-core, and afaik the Nvidia 750a chipset are not capable of a core unlock.

You do not need a quad core for an up-to-date gaming rig. Dual core is still more than sufficient every game especially if you overclock it.

GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P Motherboard - $115 after MIR
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128358
Is an awesome board for 775 and should be able to overclock...

Intel Core 2 Duo E7300 - $130
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115132

to at least 3.6 on air which is more than enough for most games
