Not trying to start an AMD vs Intel war guys.. I dont even know how to over clock so I doubt i'd notice the diff between the two. Just really need RAM and PSU advice. WHat kind of wattage should I go for with a PSU? Could I put a Thermaltake PSU in an Antec Case and visa versa or are PSU's generally only suited to different kinds of cases?

PSU: 650tx should be good. The 520 modular ones by Corsair should also do the trick, and make cable management a bit happier.
RAM: Get at least 1000 Mhz RAM or you'll be mad at yourself that you didn't when you're overclocking. WHICH YOU WILL DO! ![]() HS: TRUE is the best heatsink out there (Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme) but I have had incredible results with my unlapped xiggy (Xigmatek hdt1283. (15 idle and 45 load with a 1.5 V Q6600).

Power Supplies are all built to what is known as an ATX standard developed by engineers a few years back. They are all compatible with all cases (for all intents and purposes). I recommend corsair products just becuase they strongly support their products and they are very reliable.

hehe but i sure hope he certain about something especially when he says something negative. or else people will be misinformed, and poor amd
![]() anyway, a good brand of psu like thermaltake, will handle that 4850x2 even with 500w. just make it above 550 to be sure, and 650 if you plan to crossfire.

Hah, yeah You will. Any reason why you cant OC with 800mhz ram? There doesnt seem to be much gain with faster ram from what im reading. But if you have the budget to spend the extra 20$ by all means get the faster sticks.

Thanks to all of you for the help. One last question.. In regards to the comments about heatsinks do I need to upgrade the factory cpu cooling if I am not overclocking?

Also, the price of 1066 RAM versus 800 is next to (if not actually) nothing.
