I was looking @ the Opteron 185, for the high end of things. FX60 is just overpriced... Even the 160s opty will O/C well..
Yes, I kind of regret it, but at the same time I don't... I ended up getting my sig board/cpu/ram/cables for less than those, lol. Oh well, at least I can upgrade to phenoms some day...

I run an Opty 165, and it is a beast. I got it stable at 2.8 ghz, from the stock 1.8. If I had better memory I could do even better. Every once in a while you can find them in the fs section for pretty cheap. Good hunting

Since this is a "939" and your FX57 runs @ a default of 2800MHz but is a single core...
If the sortware you use is multi core optimized, you will see benifits and not so for single core apps.

Since that MB is a great OCer, the likes of a good OCing Opty 165 could do you well if you intend to OC.

I happen to have an Opty 165 CCBBE 0617 DC that did hit the mid 2.9 range in an DFI SLI DR MB that I'd be willing to sell. However, what ever you chose and decide to OC, you will need a good HSF to keep the CPU cool due to the over volting required.
