I'm toying with the idea of selling my Q6600, mobo, and RAM to go with a Phenom II 955 BE setup now that it's been released. I'm kind of a Gigabyte and G.skill fanboy, so I went with them. Any other mobo or RAM you guys recommend over those?
![]() I'm hoping to get somewhere around ~$400 for my current CPU, mobo, and RAM, so how much of an upgrade will this be for ~$60?

Looks great, the 790x is really great. It's nearly the same as mine and I have no problems with mine.

Yeah looks great but you definitely need a better CPU cooler, that 9700 won't stand a chance with a quad core.

But I do agree that it's time for a change, that's why I was looking at getting this with an Ultra Kaze 3000 on it that I already have. I also switched out the Gigabyte motherboard with this DFI one since I want to try my hand at a more in-depth BIOS and I think I'm gonna have a use for two full 16x PCI-E slots in the near future.

which came first...the chicken-board or the newegg?
__________________in all seriousness, that dfi board has a nice layout and specs (and 790FX for a megabuck and a half is damn fine!), but that color scheme makes me want eggs and poultry. its not last-gen gigabyte ugly...but if i had one, i'd call that system "robot chicken"... just ribbin' the colors, not the board. will be a sick clocker for you, i'm sure! isn't this the board that holds the ph2 oc record? or was that the am2+ version...i forget. anyway, creds like that overcome color inhibitions pretty quickly! loan me a few hundred bucks??

If you're sticking with the G.Skill you should notice that the price on newegg was raised(for the ddr3 1600) so yeah..
