Guys this is really stressing me out now.
Let me give you some background to what's happened. Last week my mums computer was BSOD's due to a driver issue which I fixed, but then after a while it started locking up on the desktop and eventually was locking up on the boot screen. I tested the HDD with HDtune and I noticed it was going bad because it was getting read/write speeds of 2Mb/s so I replaced it with an 80gig Maxtor DiamondPLUS 9. I re-installed windows and etc etc. Everything was working but then it started to freeze again, so I replaced the ram with some spare sticks and the rig was up and going again. This morning I went to turn it on and it's locking up as soon as it boots again, I HAVE NO IDEA WHATS WRONG WITH IT NOW!!!! I tried changing graphics cards 3 times, and still nothing. I NEED YOUR HELP DESPERATELY!!! PLEASE!!!! I will show the rig in my sig so you know the parts.

Hmm bad cpu? Try resetting CMOS. Also if you can GET RID OF THAT MAXTOR, from my experience id rather use a POS flash drive instead of a maxtor HDD

I've reset the CMOS, I just bought the Maxtor yesterday. I dont think it's the CPU because it's never been O/C or anything like that.
EDIT: The previous HDD was a Samsung Spinpoint 40gig 5400rpm

what's it doing?
__________________if it's still locking, you haven't swapped or checked the most likely of culprits - I would check the psu. install a 2nd psu outside the case, reestablish your old ram & hdd, and see what kind of performance you get then. Be wary of software that is benchmarking hw, if the hw may be failing. For bad drives, I typically diagnose via heuristics or by seatools.

o you know it could be the PSU sending dirty power out, it could be going out do you have a PSU that you can throw in there to test?

Try PSU replcement, CPU underclocking/overvolting/uninstalling beta drivers/dusting case/
etc.
