Hey everyone,

Well I finally have the money to get a new build for myself. I have a budget of around $1,500, and can go a little up and a little below. Mainly used for gaming and all the other things people use their computer for. I also might try a little bit of overclocking. Here is what I have so far, thanks again!

Mobo
GIGABYTE GA-MA790X-UD4P

CPU
AMD Phenom II X4 955

CPU Cooler
XIGMATEK Dark Knight-S1283V

OS/Gaming Drive
Kingston SSDNow V-Series SNV125-S2BD

Data Drive
Western Digital Caviar Black WD6401AALS

PSU
CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W

RAM
CORSAIR DOMINATOR 4GB

GFX Card
Radeon HD 4850 X2 2GB

Sound Card
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer

DVD Burner
LG Black 22X DVD+R

Any suggestions are appreciated!

Save the money and get two of those 640 gb drives instead of the solid state. Put them in raid 0 and you'll get about the same read speeds as that @ 100 mbps

My suggestions are as follows:

- Personally, the HAF922 is too expensive for a mid-tower. I'd much rather a Lian Li one at that price.

- I would get a HD4890 instead of a HD4850x2 purely because there is less likelihood of there being problems.

The rest looks quite good actually.

The allure of SSDs comes in the form of their access speeds, not read/write/transfer.

An excellent point. An i7 920 with an X58 Gigabyte board shouldn't set you back too much more and will absolutely blitz the performance.

Agreed, also with a $1500 build, I'd definitely go with a Core i7.

That DVD drive has some pretty poor reviews, get something else.

I agree with getting the 4890, I don't know about where you live, but here in California it is hot and will be getting hotter, and this 4850 already produces enough heat, I couldn't imagine having 2 of them. I'm not saying you have to get this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102830 but just looking at it, it seems like a better buy to me, it is cheaper, will use less energy, run cooler, and you can probably overclock it more than the 4850 x2.

Well running two the of the 640's would save me like 60 bucks, I will definatley take that into consideration.

I am not a big fan of Lian Li cases, but chose the HAF for its airflow, room, and graet cable managmenet system.

The reason I went with the 4850x2 was because for 20 bucks more I was seeing better benchmarks out of it then the 4890 which I did consider.

What would you recommend for the CPU cooler? I had a hardtime choosing one.

I also thought I could save 20 bucks and I have no need for a full tower case.

I also considered an i7, but when I put it all together I could get more when going with AMD.

well if the 922 is good enough for u then thats fine i guess.but personally id go for the 932 hahaha! for a cpu cooler id recommend megahalem im sure u can prolly get this cheaper elsewhere on other online stores. but definetly get this cooler!
just want to say this but u could try your onboard sound 1st before ordering a separate sound card and use that money else where. and if so can jsut buy the sound card later on
i though id need one while building mine but it wasnt a priority for me. dont know about u.

So far I think I have moved to a 4890, and I also have dropped the SSD for two of the 640's in RAID 0/

Can you recommend any from newegg? Unfornately, I can only order my parts through them.
