Default Is my psu enough for my system?

This is my system specification:
ph II x3 720 @ 2.8 (might overclock and/or unlock 4th core)
2x2Gb DDR3 memory @ 1600
GIGABYTE GA-MA770T-UD3P AM3 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard
SATA 7200rpm HDD
MSI R4890-T2D1G OC Radeon HD 4890 OC Edition @ 880Mhz / 3996Mhz
OCZ ModXStream Pro 500w @ +3.3V@25A,+5V@25A,+12V1@18A,+12V2@18A, -12V@0.3A,+5VSB@2.5A
maybe an aftermarket cpu cooler and/or vga cooler

I was not worried about the psu issue before because I was originally planning to get a non-overclocked 4870, but today I saw a sweet deal at Zipzoomfly.com for a MSI overclocked 4890 that is on sale at $125 after MIR, ebillme rebate, and bing.com cashback. I am a little freak out because an overclocked 4890 will consume more power compare to a non-overclocked 4870, and I am not sure if my 500w psu would be able to provide enough juice for my system.

I really appreciate any helps given

It should be, yes. But the combined amperage on the +12v rail is a bit low, so try it at your own risk. Upgrading the PSU to a higher wattage might not be worth it since your mobo can't crossfire, so see if it'll run on your PSU first, then order a higher quality, higher amperage PSU (Corsair 520 will be fine)

Most quality 500W PSU's have 36A on the +12V rail. I disagree with the opinion that you should buy a beefier one. Especially considering the fact that your board doesn't support Crossfire. Your PSU is perfectly fine for that relatively simple build. Although, depending on how much you overclock, you may be cutting it close.

Just wondering what is the symptom that will indicate the shortage of powers on the power supply? will the pc just shut down and not boot at all? I will hope that my psu is sufficient because it will suck if I have to purchase another one since I am already in the process of applying the rebate for this psu

Complete system freezes and instantaneous reboots. But those can also be symptoms of an unstable overclock.

LOL.. A matter of time. Rosewill is the Kmart of PSU's. Cheap and inefficient. Consider yourself lucky so far.

I found this review test for this psu.
http://www.cpu3d.com/review/7106-8/o...nsumption.html

Apparently this is a decent psu and it provides enough power even with the system that was tested during the review.

Your current PSU will do fine.
