I've picked out most of the parts for my first build. The only thing left for me to pick out is a power supply and maybe a cpu cooler. How much can I overclock an Athlon x2 245 on stock cooling?
What would the easiest way to install Windows 7 beta with out burning a copy? My current comp doesn't have a dvd burner and the sata drive I'm buying for my build isn't compatible. I do have an external 640Gb WD, can I use that somehow to install windows? I plan on buying a samsung toc24hd soon. Is the 780G chipset good enough to play older games like Half-life 2 at 1920x1200 resolution.

Do you know anyone that has a computer with a dvd burner that you could use for 10 min? You have to know someone.
__________________I'd guess you could get that 245 close to 3.3-3.5ghz with a stock cooler but don't be surprised if you can't. Those coolers are kind of crappy. Are you planning on adding an external video card later or just using onboard? I ask because you're unsure of a power supply and it's relevant towards what I'd recommend.

You can install windows 7 from a flash drive if you have one big enough, i can't remember how big the release candidate is but you should probably be able to do it with a 4GB flash drive, I did it with an 8GB stick though. I think this is the tutorial I followed.
^^^ or yeah, if you don't have a flash drive that's big enough for whatever windows 7 build you choose, you could do what he said. There's no way you dont know someone with a usable DVD burner. Also, the SATA drive you have selected is compatible with windows 7, im sorry if i misunderstood that part of your post but you will be able to install to that hard drive.

If you are willing to spend some more money you can look at getting the Phenom II X2 550. It's a dual-core, but that mobo you picked will allow you to unlock the other 2 cores. Though you would definitely need an aftermarket cooler. Just a thought.

I cant speak for the graphical power behind the integrated chip on that board but, all I can say is, maybe. If you are sure that is the board you want just get it and try it out, if its not you could always spend and extra 50 bucks or so on an hd 4650 512MB or something, anyway good luck i hope I helped you out some.

You can install Windows 7 though a USB Flash drive, or in your case, a USB Hard Drive. If you only play some older games, and want all the shiny high detail than go with the ATI Radeon HD 4850 or a Nvidia GTS 250

not bad..but as already stated if you plan on getting a external grafics card you will need a better psu..also I would go w/another cooler other then the stock one..
Also I see no optical drive on your order..Do you already have one?

My new rig is in my sig. I started building it on Saturday.
I upgraded the case to a Cooler Master 690 and the hard drive to 640 WD caviar black because newegg had a $100 combo deal for them. I bought the cpu cooler and psu off of forum members. I had to hunt around for cheap ram. Zipzoomfly had OCZ DDR2 800 "Vista Upgrade Edition" ram for $56 on the buy.com marketplace. When I started the build I didn't have the antec psu or thermal grease yet. I pulled the psu (with no sata power connectors) and IDE harddrive out of sister's dell to use temporarily. I just finished putting in the caviar black and artic cooling 64 yesterday. On Sunday I overclocked it 3.4ghz OCCT stable within 20 minutes. I auctually got it to boot into windows at 3.8ghz and 3.9ghz using stock cooling but those overclocks lasted less than 5 minutes in OCCT. The major things left for me to do is move my OS and application partition to the caviar black and try to get a higher overclock on the better cooler.
