I have an AMD 7750 CPU and Gigabyte motherboard (MA78GM-US2H). The BIOS has M.I.T. for overclocking.
__________________The CPU is not the black edition and "the multiplier is locked" I have searched and searched the internet looking for a guide for overclocking this CPU and mobo. All the information I can find is for the black edition of the CPU i.e. multiplier unlocked. I know it's asking for a lot to have someone totally guiding me through the process. However, from some of the knowledge I've seen here, some of you could write exactly what to do in two minutes. This will be my first overclock so please be gentle. I've read overclocking guides etc. to try and get an idea of what to do. I thought I'd understood untill I went into my own BIOS and it wasn't exactly the same as others I'd seen ![]() Thanks in advance, Mike

No we cannot for this reason:
__________________You need to read and understand what overclocking is and what adjustments actually do. Overclocking is trial and error and takes a long time. Every system is different so one voltage recommendation may not work for you. Same with Ram speed, timings, northbridge speed core clocks, multipliers, hypertransport speed and voltages for all. Re-read this:http://www.overclock.net/amd-general...ing-guide.html When you understand more post your questions and all the members will surely help you. I don't want to be blunt but if you understand it better, your overclocking experience will be fun instead of painful. Once you get close to max overclock, it will become painful....LOL...

Thanks for the reply Jimi.

Keep trying it is trial and error. Raise fsb slowly and when you cannot pass stress test raise voltages

would I be right in saying that you have a gigabyte motherboard?, yeah as he said.
I took me a while to nut things out with overclocking as Jimibgood said it's painful process especially when you get to the higher end frequencies. But in short the only way for you to overclock is the FSB (HT ref clock), but in turn this messes with your ram speeds. But to make this less painful you can use higher speed rated ram which = higher overclocks. But do some serious reading/research and find out what each piece of hardware eg: CPU (given),RAM (whats its rated speed), Motherboard/Bios and your heatsink and fan setup to see if it can take the expected thermal load. But it can be a bit of a cat and mouse game.

Set ram voltage to what it is supposed to be. Drop your divider to below what it should be (i.e. if you have 1066 ram drop it to 800 divider, or if you have 800 go to 667). Increase CPU Host Clock Control. Raise voltages as necessary.

Smashmouth - yes. Gigabyte. I have an AMD 7750 CPU and Gigabyte motherboard (MA78GM-US2H)
__________________At others. Thanks a lot. I'm not going for a super-overclock. Just a little. I guess If I don't pass the stress test I can back it down a little until I do and leave the voltages as they are. From what I've read, it's playing with voltages that can cause real damage. The other changes can only result in blue-screening. Correct?

Basically. If you are on stock cooling I wouldn't go much past 1.375v on the CPU. Keep temps under 60 Celsius at load.

And make sure you know off by heart how to recover from a bad overclock, the whole clear cmos jumper and the removal of the Motherboard battery.
But now knowing that you are using a stock cooler as above said don't push it past 1.375 core voltage.
