Velociraptors are pretty damn good.

yeah it was quite an upgrade because the Pent D's didn't run on c2d architecture and ran on p4 architecture i believe.

the 7200.10's and the .11s were the faulty ones. The 7200.12's are solid drives.

As for recommendations for you, The WD Blacks' (640gb) have faster boot times than the 7200.12's but the seagate's have better read and write speeds.

I think just about every large company has released bad products... WD included. Don't get me wrong, WD is my favorite drive brand, but Ive gotten some terrible drives from them.

hi i had a simaler problem with my setup so i brought a wd black 640gb 32mb cache (told that was the fastest) and noticed a increase in app load ups and game loading time so would be worth considering
buy 2 and raid them if you have the funds

also consider running win 7 as it runs faster smoother and less demanding on hardware usage the vista
