Default Opinions on my upgrades? (Buying today)

Here is what I am looking at: http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/Pu...Number=8037289
See any problems? Any suggestions? I am upgrading my sig rig (slow and loud).

That 4850 is going to run super hot, unless your ambient temp is low and you have excellent airflow in your case.

It's a good build, other than the 4850.

As has been said, it'll run very hot, and it's over-priced.

Get this graphics card instead, it'll give a lot better performance, and it's from a better company.

If you are going to overclock i suggest the Phenom II X3 720 instead of the Athlon proc.
Are you keeping that psu you have in your current rig? A 4850 requires 450w to run so you might be looking at upgrading that as well.

Ambient temp is usually 68F - 72F. The case is from a Compaq SR2170NX so I'm not sure about the airflow.

Well, do you see any fans?

That case will have horrible airflow, sorry to break it to you. You'll be better off running either caseless, or with the sidepanel off.

I need something silent or near silent.

I have a 500w OCZ PSU on the list of upgrades. Overclocking, if any, will be minimal.

It look like there's little to no airflow in that case. Passive cards, like that 4850 you linked us to, require very nice airflow to achieve sane temperatures.

What is the purpose of this rig? Gaming? Video editing? General use?

There are several vents in the sidepanel over the CPU and there is a 120mm exhaust fan below the PSU.
