newb question but must know to eliminate a problem on rig. Do I need to have a video card installed to actually get the computer up and running? right now I got everything but a video card in and I cant get anything to power up besides some lights on the mobo, it powers up for a second then turns on?

You need a video adapter to post.

Correct. Or you could test individual component in a separate rig, if you really need to.

Do you have any other rigs?
I ran for a week with an old card out of a gateway. Try borrowing another rigs card.

The GD70 has a POST LED right? What error code is it giving you?
Also just try pressing the clear CMOS button and then booting; that more than likely will fix the problem. edit: I also see you have 8gb of 1600mhz memory. I highly doubt you can run 4 banks at 1600mhz, try 1333mhz or even 1066mhz. AMD IMC sucks

I cant even get a post display on the led display the only things that actually work and stay working is the blue phase led by the ram slots and the power button on the mobo but thats all, when I push the pwer button the fans and stuff turn on for like one second. I tried clearing the cmos and it didnt work either :/
