With my phenom 2 940 BE at 3.4gH on GA M720 US3 mobo with AMD bundle ventirad, that is what i got in Hmonitor (idle , oc by FSB with cool n quiet)
__________________tempin0 32°C tempin1 35°C tempin2 47°C tempin2 seems to be the one that bios show. cores temp: all at 31°! If i OC with multiplicator to 3.4gH (even without OC i got same values anyway, i didnt touch Vcore), i got this, in full charge. tempin2 70°C cores temp 55°c Why i get this 15° difference between tempin2 and cores temp? I think (i hope!) tempin2 is not right. Moreover, with another mobo of this model, i got these values in full charge. if i remember well, it was about tempin2 65°C and cores temp about the same. But now, i use artic silver that maybe why i got 10°less on cores temp! My question is: Why i get this 15° difference between tempin2 and cores temp? NB:I hope you will understand what i mean and you will answer, sorry for mistakes, i am a french guy!

Hey, welcome to OCN! you should go to User CP> add system and fill out your system specs there. it will let us see what hatdware you have whenever you post.
As to your Questions, can you post a screenshot of Realtemp or HWmonitor open while you are running a stress test like prime95? that will let us see what you are talking about. :-)

sylvanos, if I were to make a guess on what tempin2 is reading, I'd say it's not a CPU-related temperature. I would guess this is a reading from the MOSFETs/PWMICs (voltage regulators on the motherboard). These get incredibly hot, much hotter than most well-cooled CPU core temperature readings. They also increase by a bit when subjected to a full CPU load condition, especially if cooling on them is not particularly robust.
Question: When you say "tempin2 seems to be the one that bios (sic) show (sic)," which temperature in the BIOS are you talking about? (CPU, Motherboard, NB, etc.) Good luck.

Sylvanos, welcome to Overclock.net
![]() In the bios what is "tempin" labeled as? If this is anything related to the "CPU Temp" then the temperature difference is somewhat normal. That temperature is usually at the IHS level. I'm with Txtmstrjoe on this one though. It definitely sounds like your PWM temperature during load (70C). Let us know Good luck

Are you using an aftermarket cooler for that CPU or the stock AMD (which is nice). Also can't wait to see what case you have once you've finished your sig we'll better gauge your airflow and continue from there with diagnosis. GOOD LUCK AND WELCOME

thanks for all answers.
__________________I use the stock AMD cooler with Artic Silver 5. All is in a 300 antec case with 1 cooler behind, 1 at the top and i just add 1 more at front. Tempin is used with hmonitor software. The tempin2 is the same that the one shown by bios, i mean the CPU temp (no more temp shown by bios). I going to add my system spec. And i will try to send a screen shot too (try: i never shot any screen! )

Sylvanos, those core temperatures look about right for the stock cooler. Tempin2 has got to be something else on the board

Sylvanos, as previously stated I don't think TMPIN2 has anything to do with your cpu. I have a strong feeling it's a component on your board (see txtmstrjoe's response as well).
Good luck
