Hey guys. I'm not entirely sure what i'm doing here in trying to put together my first computer, and I'm open to all suggestions.
Here is what i have picked out right now: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827249051 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811129042 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136319 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128392 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150369 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231189 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103680 What I am most concerned about is whether or not everything will be compatible with one another and whatever else I may be missing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm hoping for a budget range from about $600-900 Thanks! |

parts list :
WD 640 caviar black antec 300 gigabyte 770T UD3P XFX 4770 X2 550 BE G. Skill DDR3 1333 1. i'd take advantage of the case + HDD combo. and also, is there any reason for such an expensive DVD writer? this is a much better deal for the price. (close to $900 though) http://techreport.com/articles.x/17787/4 Intel Core i5-750 $199.99 Gigabyte GA-P55-UD3R $139.99 Crucial 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3-1333 $79.99 Asus Radeon HD 5770 $159.99 Western Digital Caviar Black 640GB $74.99 Samsung SH-S223B $28.99 Asus Xonar DX $89.99 Antec Sonata III w/500W PSU $109.99 Total: $883.92

I approve except for spend the extra $ and get this:XFX 4870. IMO it is worth the extra fifteen. And you could buy a cheaper dvd drive.

Thanks for the quick responses! And yeah, I could do without that DVD drive. I didn't really know what I was suppose to be looking for lol. I'll take the advice for the XFX 4870 as well thanks.

Your right on track, that CPU is a perfect choice. I would try to get something a little better in the graphics department though. Maybe a GTS250, 4870, or GTX260. If you want to save a little money, you could find a comperable AM2 gigabyte mobo and pick up some DDR2 memory.

I love the Antec 300. It's so minimalistic on the outside yet well-designed for basic cable management and decent placement of mobo, HDs and optical drives.
If it wasn't for some recent improvements to the Cooler Master Storm Scout, I'd keep my 300 for ages. If you're not jonesing for absolute performance, snag an Athlon II X4 or even a Phenom II X3. There are some new steppings of the higher Phenoms coming out soon and it would be worth waiting for those new X4s to come out. Put the $$ saved towards your wallet or a bigger HD.
