Default From E8400 to Phenom II - Advice plz

Hi

Not been on an AMD platform in some while but the Phenom II X4 965BE C3 has caught my interest. As in the post title and seen below i'm considering coming off the intel bandwagon for this upgrade. As its been a while I would be grateful if some of you could suggest a mobo / ram combo to go aong with tis processsor.

Will aim to OC on air and primary use is gaming.

Thx in Advance

Tes

Well because the processor is a black edition you don't have to worry much about getting one that can support a high HT. Voltage control is important though, and can make all the difference. I think the gigabyte ultra durable boards are a good bet there, the solid capacitors really do help. Especially if you like to undervolt like me.

4gb of any ddr3 memory will do. The boards only support up to 1600 speeds, and a decent kit should OC to that pretty easily. Not that it will make much difference to performance either way.

I upgrade from an E8500 to a my 940BE and I can pretty much guarantee you won't be disappointed .

Asus Crosshair 3 790FX motherboard or the Gigabyte 790FX AM3 board
as far as ram goes, Corsair XMS3 or Mushkin Blackline (better timmings with the mushkin and OC a little better)

Thats a good solid start, Add a few Radeon HD 5870s in crossfire and prepare to dominate!
