No. Don't get the x2 550. Later batches rarely unlock. If you want a dual, get the Phenom II x2 555 when it releases. It will be c3 stepping so it will oc a good bit higher and have a much higher chance of unlocking.

Which is why I tried searching the net around for answer. No word have been said about it. I know I asked this in another section, and someone said it was supposed to be on Nov 4th. But nope, its not on Newegg or other retail site for the matter. My guess is, it probably got delayed a little bit late.

Completely wrong, I can unlock with my low-end 770 MB and 710 sb.

@op, take a look at some of these suggestions and decide which one you think will work best. The Phenom II X3 720 is a very good CPU for the money, as is the 550.
