Default First AMD build, will it work?

Hello,

So I have a list of parts I put together that I think will work but I want to make sure. I have only ever built a few Intel PC's and decided to go AMD as it does prove to be cheaper and from what I read just as reliable if not more.

I am taking the following from my last intel build:
550 watt PSU with 2-12V rails Brand NZXT
NZXT Zero Case
pqi DDR2 667 Ram (2GB) until i get enough money for an 8GB DDR2 800 set
DVD Burner / Reader / 320 , 250 GB HDDs will be taken as well.

Parts to buy:
AMD Phenom II X4 940 Deneb 3.0GHz Quad-Core Black Edition Processor

ASUS M4A78 Plus AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard

HIS H577F1GDG Radeon HD 5770 (Juniper XT) 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16

SO My question is does everything match up? Will the mobo and CPU work?

Thanks,
Panda

better question

Will it Blend?

-- Those parts Looks fine - If overclocking maybe save for non Stock Cooling solution.\

Cannto speak for that processor or Motherboard very much, and the ram will be perfect for the time being as you said, untill you find a beautiful set of ram

it does look liek the motherboard can support 4gb Dimms for total of 16gb installed

so 4 x 2gb = good, or a 2 x 4gb of DDR2
though most only ever need 2 x 2gb for 4gb total

Looks like pretty good choices to me, although I'd rather get the 955 instead of the 940. It works on AM2+ mobos, but also could carry you forward into the AM3 generation. Oh, and 8GB of RAM would probably be useless.

Get a 790 chipset and not a psu that came with your case please. That is if you value your parts.

Ya I probably could have worded that better. The PSU is not from my case , it is just the same brand. The PSU was bought by a friend and used in an intel build by a friend with SLI 9800's and when he went to a core i7 with Tri SLI he gave me it.

The whole point behind this build is to get a quad core that I can later add parts to. My current budget is only about $500 CAD. That's why I wanted to find a temporary way to use my old RAM. I do realize 8GB is probably useless and when I upgrade it will be an upgrade to 4GB.

I am not trying to build the most advanced PC , I just want something that I can use for everyday use and do some pretty average PC gaming. Mostly FPS.

Edit: For an extra $10 the 955 looks worth it.
