Default question about future AMD chips

So im thinking about upgrading my 9950 BE to the 955.

Should I wait for a better chip or go with this one? My current CPU cant keep up with my SLI scaling so i need a new one anyways

Also, If AMD comes out with a new chip, do you think it will still be based on a AM3+ architecture or will they phase them out?

I believe Thuban, Phenom II X6, is due out next year and is AM2+/AM3 but other than that I don't know what the future of AM3 is.

This is the newest AMD road map I know of ATM.
http://www.overclock.net/amd-cpus/52...-roadmaps.html

The small/big change will be the AM3r2 which if I understand correctly will be a true DDR3 only CPU thus fully removing the DDR2 aspect of the AM3. So IMHO the r2 would be revision 2 or basically the same CPU minus the dual IMC and migrating to a dedicated DDR3 IMC (Integrated Memory Controller). That of course not taking in to account that the actual CPU core it self may/will change too as it may be likely they will up the HT as they had intended with the AM3+ but seemed to not be bothering with the "AM3+" anymore. This AM3r2 upgrade is mapped to be in the works some time in 2011.
So, basically, if you have an AM3 MB, you would likely be in the current tech for well over a year+ with regards to the AM3 and considering the option of the AM3r2 is just to far down the road...
IMHO, since you should be able to get a better OC of at least 500MHz, the Ph II 9xx would be a good choice.

Phenom II should be called Ph II, not a P II because it isn't an old Intel
