My friend told me that she was tired of her slow laptop. She told me she wanted a fast desktop. She does need all peripherals, and budget below $1k. Only specific detail was she was down to put all the money into the fastest CPU, thus the phenom 964 125W comes in.

Have you seen this forsale thread yet? 965 C3 for $190 shipped, no tax
.Otherwise, everything looks fine. Although, you'll probably find good discounts on most of those items once BF comes (monitor immediately comes to mind). Use the extra cash and get her a 4850 then get her hooked on some games .

No games/OC?
Get a 785G board... you've got onboard DX10.1 graphics and slight OC headroom. Plus you save money and energy over a dedicated solution. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131398 Also, I'd grab a LG LED monitor for a little bit more. Much better colors. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824005134

blurry pic is blurry.
otherwise, go with what kamikazi said. also, if she wants speed, double up on the hard drives and get RAID0

Couple things...Hardrive id go with Samsung F3 500gig its faster and cheaper...Monitor id go with a cheaper better monitor by Acer or Asus. Graphics card id probably tell her to use the IGP on the motherboard since the Integrated one has the same performance as that 9800GT. Already said about the processor if shes not gonna OC she can say like 10 or 20 bucks getting the 140w version.

not the same, the 125w allows her to save 15w for a usb nail polisher, girls cant live without it, most of them....xD

Good points. I'll remove the mobo and GPU to get the ASUS $99 board. Get the 140W save couple bucks. For the monitor, she wanted something "beautiful". The HP 25' looks amazing, any thoughts about that one?

If you wanted to save a little more on the CPU just get a 955 and up the multiplier one to get 3.4 you will be able to run stock volts so its not really changing anything.
