Default AMD rig, phenom x4 965 125W suggestions

My friend told me that she was tired of her slow laptop. She told me she wanted a fast desktop. She does need all peripherals, and budget below $1k. Only specific detail was she was down to put all the money into the fastest CPU, thus the phenom 964 125W comes in.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103727

Now this is a pre-build, we are waiting for black friday and see what specials are on.

Main details,

1) $1k build
2) Need at least 24 inch monitor
3) No games
4) No OC
5) Fast CPU

Total: $893

with tax and shipping: $987 + $30 Windows 7 64bit

suggestions?

Have you seen this forsale thread yet? 965 C3 for $190 shipped, no tax .

Otherwise, everything looks fine. Although, you'll probably find good discounts on most of those items once BF comes (monitor immediately comes to mind). Use the extra cash and get her a 4850 then get her hooked on some games .

No games/OC?

Get a 785G board... you've got onboard DX10.1 graphics and slight OC headroom. Plus you save money and energy over a dedicated solution.

Also, I'd grab a LG LED monitor for a little bit more. Much better colors.

Good point. A 785G board's onboard graphics is comparable to the 9400GT, and will be plenty if she's not going to be gaming.

Honestly no reason to get the 125w version if shes not going to OC..the chip is the same as the 140w version except when you try to overclock it.,

Couple things...Hardrive id go with Samsung F3 500gig its faster and cheaper...Monitor id go with a cheaper better monitor by Acer or Asus. Graphics card id probably tell her to use the IGP on the motherboard since the Integrated one has the same performance as that 9800GT. Already said about the processor if shes not gonna OC she can say like 10 or 20 bucks getting the 140w version.

Good points. I'll remove the mobo and GPU to get the ASUS $99 board. Get the 140W save couple bucks. For the monitor, she wanted something "beautiful". The HP 25' looks amazing, any thoughts about that one?

If you wanted to save a little more on the CPU just get a 955 and up the multiplier one to get 3.4 you will be able to run stock volts so its not really changing anything.
