TBH you might find it a bit of a downgrade presently. If you're changing to AM3 with an eye to the future given that LGA775 is now a dead-end, it might be smart to wait till the C3 Phenoms are out in wide availability. Also I just heard some mobo BIOSes are still not up to date so you may want to hold-off on buying an AM3 board until you're sure their BIOSes are all up to date. This couild mean waiting a month or two for Newegg et al to completely turn over their old mobo stock.

The C3 Phenoms are out now. Newegg actually has them in stock too. The mobo you have listed will work with them right out of the box also.

Your computer is fine, even from months from now on, however I would suggest you get another 2GB of RAM

Just throw a Q9550 or Q9650 on that X48, and hit 4GHz. You'd outperform Phenom II. Add another 2GB of RAM, too.

So no, not all boards "out of the box" work with C3 Phenoms yet. This is why I'm being very cautious with saying "O ya order a C3 Phenom and go crazy".

It was an ASUS board. I bought a C3 965 and the GD70 and it worked right out of the box. No BIOS flash needed. That's why I can say that with confidence.

@OP, just save up for a q9550. They outperform Phenom II x4 slightly clock for clock and generally OC higher.
