Default AMD CPU + Mobo needed for a $500 build.

Need to do a ~$500 budget gaming build. AMD seems more suited... If I went Intel I'd have to go with the celeron dual cores or jump up to ~$150 for a decent dual core.
Can't be bothered for overclocking this one, since it isn't for me.

Have about $150 to drop on the CPU and Mobo, less if better. Dual or Tri, what ever is good.
Don't need a whole build suggestion, unless you just feel like it for fun. With the black friday deals I'm sure the other parts will be changing a lot.

Of course I'll be watching black friday deals, just want to know what to look for.

Athlon II. Any one of those CPUs (they come in dual, tri, quad versions) are great bang-for-buck :P
The Athlon II x4 620 normally sells for around $99

Well what's the difference between a Phenom II and an Athlon II? Never builtan AMD, haven't had an AMD for nearly 7 or 8 years. But damn, a $99 quadcore lol? AMD must really be hurting.
Both can still use DDR2 right? And both use the same socket AM3, which is the newest one for AMD correct?

About $150 is the max for the CPU and Mobo, as this needs to be a COMPLETE BUILD, with a keyboard and everything.

The difference between Athlon II and Phenom II is the L3 Cache, it makes quite a difference in gaming but in everyday tasks its hardly noticeable. I think an Athlon II is your best bet. Yes it can use both DDR2 and DDR3, depending on your motherboard.

Use the top for DDR3 or bottom for DDR2.

EDIT: for DDR2 use the one Iceblade suggested XD.
