Intel oc'er in training

After a lot of testing, I think I've hit the limit of the memory I have (2x512Mb Corsair XMS3200C2 Pro). So I'm thinking about upgrading to DDR550.
My budget is £300 (approx $560) So what do you guys think of either of these: -GeIL 1Gb (2x512Mb) PC4400 Ultra Platinum http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatal...aMY_2d027_2dGL OCZ 1Gb (2x512Mb) PC4400 Dual Channel Gold LE http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatal...aMY_2d031_2dOC

Old AMD Guy, Trying Intel

Just my opinion, but I think DDR550 is overkill.. especially with un locked multis. I think you'd be better off getting some good PC3200 that'll run decent speeds with nice 2-2-2-x timings (Samsung TCCD) and just up the multi.

I do know what you mean Yiffy, but I do have a few reasons for going down this route.
On my system, I find that the vCore is not very stable when it's above 1.62v (+/- 0.25v). When it's set to 1.61v or lower, the vCore is very stable (+/- 0.02v) Also, I've noticed the CPU doesn't really like the multi above 12x (although this might be due to the vCore issue). I've found its most stable with a multi of 11x. If you have any ideas on how to sort out the vCore, I'll be grateful

i say go with the OCZ, although xms really likes his Geil...
but u get more performance with a lower multi and higher fsb, so its better to get faster ram

I have the OCZ but in PC4000 form, same latencies...Its been up to 260 FSB and havent hit a wall yet except for a clogged radiator (dust sucks)
I think either one will do what you want it to do, but OCZ has the extra voltage protection allowing for 3+ volts without voiding the warranty. As far as your Vcore issue, its most likely a powersupply or bios issue. That FX should fly with the right power...(being unlocked multies)
