Yeh but you are talking 1 gig of DDR2 vs DDR so I don't think the performance is gonna be the same considering the difference in bandwidth.....PC8000 vs pc4000

well it depends on what you are doing, if you dont have any more programs running and a good windows install then yes you can pull it off but you will find that you wont have any hitches or hickups if you use 2 gigs

OK, so lets stick with the 2x1gb idea for a few... as I now have 2x512 BH-5 (HyperX KHX3200K2) as well as 2x512mb TCCD (Mushkin pc3200 Black LVL II V2); hopefully its obvious I don't plan to use them both together. So with the 1gb RAM sticks I see a nice trio of ICs to debate over: Samsung UCCC, Hynix D5, and Micron -5B G... what are people's experiences and/or thoughts on the matter? And of course I'm limiting this to AMD systems, and therefore tighter timings being a major plus.

With the 2x1 gig your gonna be running about the same timings, if your using a 9x multi operton, I think mine are fine...but in reality I had some simple tech and got about the same performance in Super Pi as my Overclocked OCZ UCCC..Maybe one second difference...I have used all kinds of different ram set ups with my operton and with the limitation of most boards ability to only hit around FSB of 365 or so on the AMD systems then it doesn't matter...Your gonna be limited..Save your money and just get some reasonable ram and run it on the 133 divider 334x133= DDR444...I been trying to get my system tweaked and run a 365x8=2.9 and a 133 divider but I can't get it stable

Mine has a 10x multi (Opty 146 CAB2E), and needs about 300MHz fsb to get 3GHz... the CAB2Es seem to be a given 3GHz capability on the CPU side, so I just want to make sure I get the right RAM for the job... and I don't want to run a divider toooo far from 1:1, if I have to use one at all. But I'm keeping my eyes on the web for a good set of 1gb sticks, but I want to know if UCCC is the best bet, or if -5B D or D5 might be a better bet (meaning better odds of getting a high clocking, low timing pair)? Also, I just picked up the Thermalright Ultra-120, so I'm kinda psyched to get this whole thing up and running!

The best odds are gonna be the corsair XMS 3500ll pro...I came close with it at FSB 295 1:1 But to find some is gonna cost you...no one has it and on e-bay it sells for over 300.00 a set... And uses the BE-5 or CE-6 chips
