Simple yet Im not sure of the answer. Can you mix DDR2 667 and DDR2 800 in a machine if the machine supports both?

You can, but the DDR2 800 will clock down to 667 speeds and will not run in dual channel!

Yes, but you might run into stability issues, since both sticks don't use the same timings.

The results are kind of weird. I have two 512 sticks of 800 and two 1 GB sticks of 667. Either sets on their own works great. All 4 installed and the box freezes at the bios screen 90% of the time. Any config changed in the BIOS I might be able to make to be able to use all 3 GB combined?

probably not. Have you tried different slots, mix 'em up. That might work. Good Luck!
