First Time Build

Hello,
I have this OCZ DDR600 that isnt booting with any other cas setting that 2. OCZ says the memory might need re-programming. Also they offered to replace it with OZC4002048ELGEGXT-K or OCZ5001024EBPE. What I want to know is: 1-Can they really "re-program" ram? 2-Which ram would be better for overclocking? The DDR600 works, but because it is stuck in cas 2 I cant get it higher than 232Mhz. It is fast at 232 with timings of 2-2-2-5. Can anyone help with what I should do, or what will overclock better. Does the SIZE of the ram affect OC'ing? Thanks JB

Yes, the larger the RAM size... there more places that an overclock can fail. You pretty much need 2GB now. It is more important to have enough RAM than fast RAM.

So what do you think I should do, try to repair DDR600, or just go for the 2GB DDR400.
Thanks

2x1GB will give you better performance (in most recent games and apps) than fast 2x512MB.

What about "overall stable overclock"? (As far as MAX OC) I cannot get past 2.7 stable with my PC4000?
Sorry I am VERY new to OC'ing. This is my first rig!
