To all:
__________________Just curious, Gigabyte offers MOBOs with 4 RAM-slots with "16GB dual channel capacity" Anyone even seen any 4GB sticks??? If Gigabyte are (were) trying to future proof ther Mobos as a selling point? Are they hoping that 4GB sticks are (were ) something for down the road? And now the development will have been deep sixed as DDR3 is coming up? Kinda how s939 got dumped "just out the gate" as "future of computing" with AMD's change to AM2! Just curious! Cheers

IMHO it is completely useless to have that much ram... unless you're running it in a server. well either way, they do make a stick that's 4gb... I only found one though....it's this Corsair. The only two problems though is that it's DDR and really spendy...

Sure, server motherboards can have like 16 DIMM slots.

Yeah, I mean I can tell you that some servers at my college have like 64GB of RAM, but of course we are implicitly talking about desktops here.
