Default Memory Recommendations?

Hello, this is going to be my first system, and its emphasis will be on overclocking. I plan on running Gentoo Linux on it.

Here's what I have configured so far:

Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Black Edition
Motherboard: DFI INFINITY NF570 SLI
RAM: Undecided
Case: NZXT Zero Full Tower Case

What do you recommend for the best overclocking potential for this system? I want at least 2GB. I've been looking at various OCZ ones, but I don't know what to get.

Thanks for the reply.

I must ask, though: Is there a significant difference between the Ballistix Tracer and the Ballistix, besides the price and LEDs?

Heya Red, the OCZ Plat.Rev 2 RAM is pretty good...

Its DDR2 800, but people have had it run at 900 even 950MHz

It comes with EVP [Extended Voltage Protection] so you can whack up the voltages and stay in warranty,

Also they have low latencies n' the XTC heatsinks keep em running cool =]

That's very good, but looking at the Crucial Ballistix reviews, it can be overclocked to 1100Mhz- and it's only $5 more. Thanks for the suggestion, though, I appreciate it.

Its worth the few extra bucks for the tracers, they look so awesome! The ballistix are the best RAM right now as they have the D9 chips (Great overclockers). I have my ballistix at 1210Mhz at 5-5-5-8 timings. They have to be good if there is a whole club dedicated to it, (See my signature).

The Team Xtreem RAM costs much more than the Crucial and has about the same performance, so I think I'm going to go with the Crucial Ballistix. I'll keep the tracer version in mind, thanks.
